Leather pants have always been popular on the runways and on the streets. If, like us, you’ve been lusting over the looks on the runways of Christopher Kane, Rodarte, Just Cavalli and Daks, to name a few, then you would have noticed how differently these designers styled their leather trousers.
Leather is an extremely versatile fabric and one that can be styled with almost everything, as well as being worn for both smart and casual occasions. If you are after a laid-back look then it’s best to pair your leather trousers with a plain white t-shirt and a denim or printed blazer, alternatively you can wear them with a slightly oversized jumper or a simple knit and a great pair of black biker boots or brogues. Just remember that if you are opting for a loose top, your trousers should be a tighter fit to balance the look.
For a more polished look try wearing leather trousers with heeled boots, a black turtleneck and a tuxedo cape or opt for a pair of pleated leather pants and style them with fitted obi jacket. If ultra-glam is what you’re after then Kate Moss has shown us all before just how amazing leather trousers look when paired with t-shirts and faux fur outerwear, and the contrast of the two materials really make for an eye-catching outfit.
Once you have found the right pair of leather or pleather trousers (and sometimes it’s worth paying a bit more for quality) there are lots of ways to make them work for you – and you don’t have to be a rock star to pull them off.
