Winners of The Fashion Awards Announced
The Fashion Awards have unveiled the hottest names in the fashion world. Taking place in Royal Albert Hall in London, the event was hosted by The British Fashion Council. Among the winners was Bella Hadid, who won Model of the Year, and Pierpaolo Piccioli, who took home Designer of the Year for Valentino. Other award recipients include Charlotte Tilbury, who won the Isabella Blow Award, and Wales Bonner for the Independent British Brand.
In honor of the late Queen Elizabeth II, a series of British designers paid tribute with ‘The Fashion Salute Show’. Brands that took part included Nensi Dojaka, JW Anderson, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and Richard Quinn. Some of the celebrity guests included Florence Pugh and Noami Campbell, both in Valentino, Jodi Turner-Smith in Gucci, and Winnie Harlow in Iris Van Herpen.

Tilda Swinton Stars in Gucci Performance
Gucci has enlisted Tilda Swinton to perform for Gucci. In a three-person show, the British actress unpacked 30 Danilo Donati costumes for the Avant Garde director, Pier Paolo Pasolini. She slowly folded them off the rack and from chairs, pressing them against her body and lifting them above her head.
Different costumes included a religious figure and an extra from Arabian Nights. Each look was complete with facial expressions to showcase her ability to transform thanks to clothing. The private show included an exclusive guest list featuring Carla Bruni and Diane Kruger.

Prada Names New CEO
Prada has named Andrea Guerra as its CEO in its annual shareholder meeting, replacing Paolo Zannoni in the role. Rumors began to swirl about Guerra stepping into the role, with an article last week in Reuters indicating the change in leadership. He stepped down from his role as head of the hotel division at LVMH earlier this year.
Miuccia Prada will step down as co-CEO but remain as co-creative director of Prada alongside Raf Simons and acting Creative Director of its sister company, Miu Miu. Simons will be a Board member, indicating the next generation of the Italian fashion house.

Chanel Debuts First Metiers D’Art in Africa
Chanel is the first European brand to showcase a collection in the continent of Africa. The French fashion house presented its Metiers D’Art in Dakar, Senegal, debuting its Pre-Fall 2023 collection. Dances and performances included École des Sables and Obree Daman, with choreography by Dimitri Chamblas and CKay.
The collection featured inspiration from the ’70s, with an ‘abundance’ of shapes, warm colors, plant motifs, and sequins, ‘alongside the subtlety of lace’. Pieces included pinstripe trousers, platform heels, and tweed suits in green, orange, and pink. Chanel also presented a “three-day cultural program accompanied by concrete action in terms of creative dialogue, sustainable development and the transmission of savoir-fair.”
