From Stella McCartney’s Fashion Week flash mob finale to Kim Kardashian’s terrifying gunpoint robbery, these are the top international fashion stories of the week.
Kim Kardashian Robbed at Gunpoint During Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week doesn’t typically incite dramatic headlines, but this season it was the subject of some terrifying news. Kim Kardashian, while in Paris to attend the week, was at the centre of an armed robbery. According to reports, the reality star and mother of two was “badly shaken” but not physically harmed during the ordeal.
The robbery took place in the early hours of Monday morning and saw Kim held at gunpoint in her luxurious private apartment in the 8th Arrondissement of Paris. According to reports, the intruders, who were dressed as police, bound Kim and locked her in the bathroom before stealing approximately US$10 million worth of jewellery. Included amongst the stolen jewels was Kim’s highly valuable engagement ring, which she regularly wore in public and social media posts.
Hearing news of the event, Kim’s husband, Kanye West, abruptly ended his performance at the music festival, The Meadows, in New York. The couple has since been reunited after Kim promptly exited Paris (abandoning Fashion Week in the process) by private jet following the incident.

Stella McCartney Ends Fashion Show with a Flash Mob
Stella McCartney is a woman who’s not afraid to do things differently, and her recent Spring/Summer 2017 show at Paris Fashion Week was no exception. The eco-friendly designer shook off the stuffiness of traditional runway shows to close hers with an innovative flash mob.
The show, which took place at the Opéra Garnier in Paris, saw models take to their final outfits before dancing down the runway instead of strutting. The high-energy finale was filled with simple choreographed dance moves as the models moved in circles and rows, shimmying, shaking hips, waving arms and smiling.
“You’ve got to find a balance because we work so hard on the collection… You’ve got to respect that,” McCartney said in an interview following the show. “But at the same time, there’s a side to me, I am very irreverent, I am British, so I want to have fun. I want to enjoy it, and I think that we do that in this house.”
Justin O’Shea Departs Brioni after Six Months
Following just six months at the helm, Justin O’Shea has parted ways with Brioni. The Italian menswear labelled announced the news this week, saying that the creative director, who was hired in March, had departed the brand.
O’Shea, who had no previous design experience before receiving the role, shocked the fashion industry when he was first hired at the Kering-owned Brioni. Succeeding Brendan Mullane in the role, the Australian street style star had previously held the position of global fashion director for Mytheresa.com.
O’Shea made his runway show debut for Brioni back in July, at Paris Couture Week. As for the brand’s next show, it will now take the form of a presentation to be held at the label’s Milan showroom in November.
At the moment there is still no word on who will replace O’Shea or what he will do following his departure.
