Karl Lagerfeld Honored in Met Gala for 2023
The theme for the 2023 Met Gala is here. The first Monday in May will honor the late Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019. The official theme for the Met Museum will be Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, paying tribute to the designer’s six-decade span in fashion and his unmatchable influence on the industry. The Costume Institute will host an exhibition with 150 of Lagerfeld’s sketches, with labels from Chanel to Fendi.
“Karl Lagerfeld was one of the most captivating, prolific, and recognizable forces in fashion and culture, known as much for his extraordinary designs and tireless creative output as for his legendary persona,” shared Max Hollein, Director of the Met. “This immersive exhibition will unpack his singular artistic practice, inviting the public to experience an essential part of Lagerfeld’s boundless imagination and passion for innovation.”

The Highlights from Paris Fashion Week
Paris Fashion Week has finally arrived, and it’s already made history. Starting with shows from Dior and Saint Laurent, the fashion industry was abuzz with the latest trends. Some of the most iconic pieces include the latter, which featured Grace Jones-inspired bodysuits with hods and oversized coats in dark hues. The week will close out with shows from Miu Miu, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Valentino.
Bella Hadid closed Coperni show, walking the runway in nothing but white underwear. She stood in front of the guests as a team sprayed her with a liquid that quickly transformed into jersey fabric. By the time she walked off the runway, she was sporting a skin-tight white off-the-shoulder dress with a thigh-high split.

Daniel Lee Named Chief Creative Officer at Burberry
There’s a new Chief Creative Officer in town. Amid rumors earlier this year, Daniel Lee is officially moving to Burberry, with Riccardo Tisci leaving the role after nearly five years. Lee was the Creative Director of Bottega Veneta from 2018 to 2021 but will take the reins for the London fashion house with his first collection in February 2023.
“Burberry is a very special place with a magical past and a very promising future,” said Tisci. “The chapter I was asked to write in its long story is one that I am incredibly proud of, and one I have decided would culminate with my show on Monday. I thrived to continue a legacy of innovation and consistently championed for creativity and diversity in order to always keep Burberry moving forward. I want to thank my teams, past and present, and the army of collaborators and friends who helped me write a chapter that I hope will stay in Burberry’s future for years to come.”

Haider Ackermann to Design Gaultier’s New Collection
In the tradition of Jean Paul Gaultier, there is a new designer taking over the house for its next collection. Haider Ackermann will create a couture collection in 2023. The designer follows Olivier Rousteing and Glenn Martens, who designed innovative and celebrated collections for the French fashion house. “I’ve always loved Haider’s work, especially on tailoring,” said Gaultier. “I am certain that his couture will be remarkable, and I cannot wait to discover the collection that he will present.”
