It’s the race that stops a nation, but we are more concerned with our attendee’s sartorial choices that annually define us as a country worth appreciating. Ladies kept things demure with pastel tones and ladylike silhouettes and played with different headpiece shapes, with grown-up tiaras and longer statement pieces that added distinction and height.
It also wouldn’t be the Melbourne Cup without a healthy dose of colour, and gents and ladies weren’t afraid to liven up race day with the bright jewel tones they elected. Keep an eye out for more eccentric looks that demonstrate Australian attendees’ ability to reinvent the typical traditionalist dress code. Gentlemen kept things predominantly classic, with bright emeralds, noticeable reds and traditional navies to tie outfits together most appropriately.
