It’s one of the most important weeks on the fashion calendar, and the attendees of NYFW certainly did not disappoint with their street style. Soft tailoring remains a staple for fashion-goers, giving a taste of the ’80s with exaggerated shoulders on blazers and longline trousers cinched in at the waist. Taking a leaf out of the ’90s book, we’re also seeing the rise of Capri pants, worn with a loose blouse, cardigan or crop; frilled dresses and skirts were another popular choice. While a double denim outfit was once considered a fashion faux-pas, this season, it once again secured a firm hold on the city, seen in the form of a structural jacket and oversized or uniquely designed jeans.
We also spotted plenty of monochrome outfits, favoring shades of cream, green, black and burgundy, ushering us into the cooler months. Pattern and print mixing wasn’t off the table, either, with leopard print, ombre and florals dominating the streets. Accessories such as sunglasses and handbags were heavily inspired by the ongoing Y2K trend, with futuristic silhouettes and metallic materials. Strutting through the streets of New York, the attendees put their best foot forward in an array of flats and kitten heels, while others opted for a pair of strappy sandals.
