There’s a reason why so many women on the streets are embracing the patchwork trend, and that’s because of it’s quirkiness and vibrancy. The trend lends itself to the 70’s theme and we have seen it on the runways of some of our favourite designers including Carolina Herrera, Tony Burch, Coach, Tracy Reese, Edun and Diane Von Furstenberg.
This trend was popular during New York Fashion Week and is perfect for the colder weather as it tends to work well with heavier fabrics, such as the designers mismatched wool, leather and luxe fur coats that we have been lusting over. Tunic dresses, sweaters and denim were also favoured garments for this trend.
Another thing that makes this trend so appealing is it’s versatility: you do not need to walk down the street in head-to-toe patchwork, you can incorporate it into your wardrobe in a much more subtle way like wearing a patchwork scarf or with a great tote or a clutch (Comme des Garçons Metal Clutch Wallet). But if you want to stand out from the crowd, then the patchwork trend is essentially a new take on colour blocking, and there’s nothing stopping you from wearing a bold dress.
