Paris Couture Week Dominates the City
Paris Couture Week dominated the social media feeds this week, showcasing the latest in high fashion. The runways featured designers including Iris Van Herpen, Dior, and Chanel. Fendi showcased its first Couture collection, designed by Kim Jones, with stars like Demi Moore, Kate Moss, Noami Campbell, and Adwoa Aboah walking the runway. The inspiration included the Virginia Woolf novel Orlando, the history of Fendi, and British sensibility.
Viktor & Rolf put on a ‘couture rave,’ featuring tulle layers, fishnets, and bright motifs. “Haute couture meets underground party. The mood is irreverent and almost casual but always elegant: an antidote to doom scrolling,” said the designers. Valentino showcased the couture collection in the Palazzo Colonna in Rome, exuding opulence and gold, 1960s elements, and touches of elegance.

CFDA Renames NYFW to American Collections Calendar
Tom Ford is changing the name of NYFW to ‘American Collections Calendar.’ The Chairman of the CFDA has decided to make the move to showcase all American designers during the fashion event. The goal of this name change is to promote local talent and to ensure further global recognition.
“While the CFDA will continue to encourage American designers to show in New York during New York Fashion Week, we recognize the need for some to broaden their global visibility,” said Ford. “In the past few years, many of our members have chosen to show in Europe, Asia, and other key markets and in many cases off-calendar. The events of the past year have only highlighted the need for flexibility within the fashion system.”
