Gucci Creative Director Named
The successor to Alessandro Michele has been announced. Kering, the parent company of the Italian fashion house has named Sabato de Sarno as its creative director. This comes after Alessandro Michele announced his departure in November last year. De Sarno will commence his role at an undetermined date, with his first show to debut in September for Milan Fashion Week.
Sabato’s career began with Prada in 2005 before moving to Dolce & Gabbana in 2006. In 2009, he moved to Valentino, where he held the role of Fashion Director for both men’s and women’s collections. “I am deeply honored to take on the role of Creative Director of Gucci,” said De Sarno. “I am touched and excited to contribute my creative vision for the brand.”

Haute Couture Fashion Week Comes to a Close
Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is officially over. The event celebrated craftsmanship from a wide array of designers, including Chanel, Dior, Valentino, and many more. Perhaps the most controversial show was from Schiaparelli, which channeled Dante’s Divine Comedy with handcrafted lion, wolf, and leopard heads attached to dresses and a coat.
South Korean designer Miss Sohee put a sexy spin on traditional 19th-century Korean art. Her garments featured hourglass silhouettes with encrusted clam shell bustles and delicate jeweled floral embellishments. Viktor&Rolf continued its “absurd” and “insane” route with a series of upside-down and sideways tulle gowns. “It’s an absurd take on the stereotype of a couture ballgown,” said Rolf Snoeren, co-founder of the Dutch label.
