Selena Gomez Teams Up With Puma
“Officially a part of the fam.” With those words and a picture of herself in head-to-toe athleisure gear, Selena Gomez announced a new partnership with sportswear giant Puma on Instagram. While the first order of business is the campaign launch of Puma’s new Phenom sneaker, Selena plans on being more than just a poster face for the brand. In an official statement, she states her intends of becoming more involved in product design and future marketing campaigns. “Being part of the Puma family is very exciting for me,” she says. “Puma has changed the game when it comes to the mash-up of athletic wear and fashion. It’s amazing to see this influence on style and culture and I’m excited to be a part of it. I am hoping that we can create something special together. We already have some really cool projects in the works.”
Adam Patrick, global branding and marketing director at Puma, says they value the pop star’s authenticity and creativity. “She is everything that today’s female consumer is looking for in a role model… With her honesty and openness about living with lupus, she has provided an incredible example of confidence, poise and determination for all of us. Selena is a perfect partner for Puma because she is not afraid of the challenges our world can offer; she fights and perseveres, which is exactly what Puma is all about. Selena joins the likes of Rihanna, Cara Delivigne and The Weeknd, all of which have previously lent their talents to Puma campaigns.

Rihanna Reveals Fenty Beauty Holiday Collection
She’s done it again! Only two weeks after Rihanna’s makeup line Fenty Beauty hit Sephora stores around the globe, the singer cum designer announced a capsule collection, just in time for the holiday season. As opposed to the central Fenty Beauty range, the Galaxy Collection will feature a selection of appropriately bold and festive shades, including a whole palette of metallic blues, pink, gold, silver and purples. There will also be an addition of liquid liner and vibrant lipsticks. Since its launch, Fenty Beauty has had makeup lovers lined up in front of Sephora stores worldwide.
The makeup range, which features 40 different shades of foundation is Rihanna’s first expedition into the world of beauty and has already caused a stir within the industry. “It’s not rocket science you know,” she told BBC News. “It’s a shame that this is even becoming a moment. I feel like this should have been happening all along.” Basma Khalifa, a beauty industry analyst, predicts that this sudden disruption may result in a much-needed wakeup call for the industry. “It kind of caused a ripple effect panic, which is what was needed. So I think the future of fashion and the future of beauty is looking up in terms of people starting to listen and starting to tackle the problem, which can only be a good thing. This is bigger than Rihanna, if that’s even possible.” The Galaxy Collection will be available exclusively at Sephora from October 13.

L’Oreal Heiress Liliane Bettencourt Dies at 94
French businesswoman and heiress to the L’Oreal beauty emporium Liliane Bettencourt has died, as her family confirmed on Thursday. According to reports, she passed away peacefully on Wednesday night at her home in Paris at the age of 94. Bettencourt joined her father, L’Oreal founder Eugene Schueller, in the family business at the age of 15, mixing cosmetics and labelling bottles of shampoo. She married French politician Andre Bettencourt in 1950 and inherited the family fortune at the time of her father’s passing in 1957.
Bettencourt was also known as the wealthiest woman in the world. Earlier this year, Forbes magazine estimated her net worth to be at US$39.5 billion (AUD$49.5 billion), making her the richest woman among the 20 wealthiest people on earth. Her passing is expected to have a significant impact on the company’s future. While key shareholders Nestle and the Swiss food company entered an agreement with founding family not to increase their stakes during Liliane Bettencourt’s lifetime, this arrangement will cease within six months after her death. To date, Bettencourt and her children still own 33% of the cosmetics brand. “I would like to reiterate, on behalf of our family, our entire commitment and loyalty to L’Oreal and to renew my confidence in its President Jean-Paul Agon and his teams worldwide,” Franchise Bettencourt-Meyers, daughter of Liliane Bettencourt, said in a statement.

Highlights of London Fashion Week SS18
Kaia Gerber sure has a busy schedule for a 16-year-old. While last week we saw her runway debut at Calvin Klein in New York, this week she was strutting her stuff at the Burberry show in London. Only this time she had to share the runway with her brother Presley. The true highlight of the show, however, was, of course, the collection itself. After a few difficult seasons for the label, Christopher Bailey won critics over with a show that “fizzed with youthful zest” while maintaining Burberry’s British soul. Meanwhile, outside the former courthouse in Circkwell, animal activists had taken position. The show was forced to start late as protestors tried to enter the backstage area and verbally assaulted fashion icons Kate Moss and Anna Winter. Other events, such as the Versus Versace and Gareth Pugh shows, were also targeted by the anti-fur protestors.
Ironically, faux fur seems to be as popular as ever. Designer Hannah Weiland has made it her mission to create beautiful designs made from cruelty-free textiles. Her new collection features an array of garments made from faux fur and faux patent leather. Molly Goddard has built a bit of a party girl reputation for presenting her designs in more or less unorthodox celebratory settings. This year, model Edie Campbell got the party started, walking down the runway in biker boots, holding a glass of champagne and an e-cigarette. She was followed by a herd of models, dancing, posing, enjoying themselves. “I wanted it to be fruity,” the designer said after the show. “I keep using the drug analogy, which is probably a bit inappropriate.” Tommy Hilfiger closed the fashion week spectacle with appearances from Georgia May and Lizzie Jagger, Gigi Hadid and a performance from the Chainsmokers.

Sass and Bide Raise Awareness for Child Protection
Aussie fashion favourite Sass and Bide are once again lending a creative hand to charity. As in previous years, they have teamed up with leading child protection agency Barnardos to raise awareness for children in less fortunate circumstances. They aim to fuel the conversation around finding permanent support solutions for those children who need it most. To assist the charity in raising funds for its cause, Sass and Bide have designed the Love and Protect tee. The shirt will be available for purchase online and in stores for $160 with all proceeds are going directly to Barnardos. The 2017 campaign scheduled to launch on September 25 across all social media platforms.
Over the past years, the collaboration has attracted a number of high-profile supporters, including Lisa Wilkinson, Jodi Anasta, Jennifer Hawkins, Kyly Clarke and Melissa Doyle. Model Samantha Harris, who has been a long-term ambassador for the cause, is proud to be the face of the campaign again. “I’m proud to support the release of Sass and Bide’s gorgeous Love and Protect tee again this year,” so Harris. “Barnardos do the most amazing work caring for and protecting our most vulnerable children, and I urge everyone to go out and grab themselves one for summer.” Women are encouraged to share pictures of themselves wearing the white tee on social media.
