Balenciaga Cuts Ties with Ye
It’s official: Balenciaga is parting ways with Ye. A statement from Kering, the parent company of Balenciaga, announced that the fashion house would no longer work with the controversial artist. “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” read the statement.
Balenciaga has been working with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, since 2015. He was featured as a surprise guest at the Paris Fashion Week show opening the SS23 collection. Shortly after, Ye made widely-criticized statements on social media and in interviews over the last three weeks and shared antisemitic remarks and threats. This comes only a short while after a public feud with executives at GAP, ultimately terminating their relationship. Adidas has also explained that the partnership with Ye will be under review following his statements.
