Louis Vuitton Tap Pharrell as Creative Director
Louis Vuitton has confirmed that musician and producer, Pharrell Williams, will be the new creative director of Louis Vuitton Menswear. He is set to take the role following Virgil Abloh, who was the artistic director until his death in late 2021. The news were announced on February 14 by French news outlet Le Figaro, which was later confirmed by Louis Vuitton.
“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s creative director,” wrote Pietro Beccari, CEO and chairman of Louis Vuitton. “His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.” His first collection will debut in June 2023 for Men’s Paris Fashion Week.

Fashion Elite Attend Vivienne Westwood’s Funeral
Some of the world’s biggest fashion icons attended the memorial service of Dame Vivienne Westwood, who passed away in December 2022. Famous faces included Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Edward Enninful, Anna Wintour, Helena Bonham Carter, and many more well-known faces. In honor of London Fashion Week, which began on February 17th, it was the opportunity to showcase the designer’s influence in fashion history.
Those in attendance moved far from plain black attire, instead wearing pieces from the designer, including tartan dresses, busy florals, berets, plaid suits, and punk-infused elements.

London Fashion Week Begins
London Fashion Week has kicked off over the weekend, starting with the memorial service to the late Dame Vivienne Westwood. The first shows included Di Petsa and Sinead O’Dwyer. Harris Reed’s collection presented oversized round headpieces and striking silhouettes in cascading black and gold.
Throughout the week, designers will include 16Arlington, Simone Rocha, Emilia Wickstead, Nevis Dojaka, and JW Anderson. All eyes will be on Burberry on Monday as Daniel Lee showcases his first collection since being named creative director in September 2022.

Highlights of NYFW
New York Fashion Week has come and gone, hitting off the first week of the fashion month. Designers, including Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Christian Siriano, and Coach, showcased their collections. Closing the week out was Thom Browne, who was inspired by The Little Prince, with a series of oversized sleeves, a mixture of patterns, and his signature four-striped socks and tweed suits.
