Gigi Hadid Launches’ Gigi’s Journal Part II’
Gigi Hadid is releasing a second part to her ‘Gigi’s Journal’ series. The supermodel is a guest editor and the Creative Director of the series, which is a part of V Magazine. In this edition, she called for contributors to take part, and more than 20,000 responded. She then re-opened the submissions to represent more artists of color. Gigi worked on the first edition in 2017.
“I felt strongly that it was important to me, and responsibility of mine and V Magazine, to make sure we are amplifying Black-American voices using this platform and privilege,” she said. The spreads feature pieces by Patrisse Cullors, who founded the BLM movement, activist and chef, Sophia Roe, and many others. You can pre-order the Journal online – it will debut on July 15th.

Influencers Create American Influencer Council
Some of America’s most prominent influencers are banding together to create the American Influencer Council. This group aims to ‘further legitimize and sustain the influencer marketing industry in America’. Some of the featuring members include Brittany Xavier, Patrick Janelle, Serena Goh, and Aliza Licht.
The first initiative that the AIC has started includes the improvement, promotion, and adhering to the Endorsement Guidelines. “In the past decade, social media has transformed the way the world communicates and consumes information in every industry,” said Aliza Licht. “Influencers are leading this revolution, and our goal is to empower our members with the resources they need to stay on the pulse of the ever-changing issues, trends, and legislation that impact the influencer marketing industry in the U.S.”

Gucci Debuts Eco-Friendly Collection
Gucci has launched an eco-friendly collection, Gucci Off The Grid. The line features recycled, organic, and sustainably-sourced materials. The designer also uses ECONYL, regenerated nylon created from abandoned fishing nets, carpets, and leftovers from Gucci’s manufacturing process. The pieces in the collection are genderless and feature footwear, ready-to-wear, and luggage. The core backpack comes in two sizes with FSC-certified packaging. Famous faces in the campaign include Jane Fonda, Jared Leto, and Lil Nas X.

Milan Fashion Week Will Feature Physical Shows
Milan Fashion Week is moving forward with its physical shows in September. The Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana announced the shows will run from September 22nd to 28th. “[Digital fashion week] is designed to support, rather than replace, the physical fashion calendar, which will resume in September and will remain vital in promoting Made in Italy and the value of its manufacturing prowess,” said Carlo Capasa, the President of CMNI.

Kim Kardashian Signs the Deal with Coty
Kim Kardashian has signed a major deal with Coty. The beauty company has acquired 20% of KKW Beauty for $200 million. “This deal is similar to the one that Coty did with Kylie. The only difference is that Coty is taking a smaller position in Kim’s investment vehicle,” said Peter Harf, the former CEO of Coty. In 2019, Coty acquired 51% of Kylie Jenner’s beauty line, Kylie Cosmetics for $600 million. The new agreement with Kardashian includes the expansion into personal-care and skincare products, hair care, and nails.
