Paris Fashion Week is Here
It’s been a whirlwind Fashion Month, but we’re winding it up with Paris Fashion Week. With shows from Saint Laurent, Chloe, Balmain, Coperni, and Victoria Beckham, the designers retained and reintroduced plenty of trends. Saint Laurent paid homage to the ‘80s with oversized and exaggerated shoulder pads paired with pinstriped skirts, sheer shirts, and its staple dark color palette.
Balmain also leaned into the ‘80s era with the return of the peplum, off-the-shoulder jackets, and a mixture of black and white with splashes of red, green, and blue. Always one for a viral moment, Coperni turned to science again to showcase their latest collection – this time using robots. They served as clothes horses for the models to place their bags and tore layers of fabric off the model’s bodies to showcase the garments underneath. Other notable shows included Schiaparelli, Rick Owens, and Off-White, who set the fashion goers in a world of Afrofuturism and space age – dubbed ‘Lunar Delivery.’

CFDA and Versace Collaborate on LGBT Program
The Council of Fashion Designers of America is teaming up with Donatella Versace on an initiative for LGBT designers and creators. The creative director of Versace will host a masterclass for LGBT students and LA-based CFDA members. The two will also launch a scholarship for LGBT fashion students, which will debut later in the year.
“I have always believed in the power of young creatives,” explained Donatella. “At Versace, we have had some of the most amazing young talent join us and we have learned so much from them. I am thrilled that we can support a scholarship with the CFDA for an LGBTQ student and cannot wait to see their creative energy come to fruition with our encouragement.”
