Rihanna has become a celebrity style icon for women across the globe due to her effortlessly cool and super chic fashion sense.
The Barbadian beauty’s wardrobe is the envy of every woman, and her diverse range of tastes have kept her wardrobe current and exciting. From avant-garde interesting silhouettes to the tom-boy grunge look, Rihanna knows how to wear just about every trend.
The queen of crop tops, the “Stay” singer knows just how to make a crop top look great and pairs them with high waisted jeans, flare skirts, streamlined leather skirts and denim shorts… you name it, it’s a combination she has tried and succeeded with.
What makes RiRi so cool is that when it comes to fashion, she’s a risk taker. She’s able to pull off looks that most women wouldn’t even dream of attempting. For example, floral on floral such as her matching floral jacquard coat and floral jacquard shorts ensemble. Another daring choose is crochet skirts, which aren’t for everyone but because she’s so comfortable with her body she manages to pull off this look– she looks super sexy instead of trashy.
So where does Rihanna’s love of fashion stem from? Her mother of course. She previously revealed to Glamour Magazine, “My love for fashion–let me say, my admiration for fashion–started with my mom. I used to watch her get dressed. She was around my age right now, and she was so fly. I remember not even knowing how to do that because I was such a tomboy.”
2. Karlie Kloss
Celebrity style icon Karlie Kloss was discovered at the tender age of 13 and has literally grown up on the catwalk. Being surrounded by creative people and designer clothes has certainly rubbed off on the now 21-year-old beauty and she has become recognized as a worldwide style icon.
Kloss has an incredible off-duty-model style and she is often snapped looking effortlessly cool in her staples which are usually a great pair of denim jeans, 70’s inspired flared jeans and tailored black capris, which she usually teams with either a classic silk blouse or a cute bralet. (Of course, having such long legs doesn’t hurt when it comes to making pants look great)
Layering is also something that Kloss does well and she is regularly seen sporting a daring caped coat, or a cute khaki cropped jacket, moto jackets and cropped sweaters.
Whilst Kloss’s wardrobe does include the key colour trends, much of the Victoria’s Secret Angel’s wardrobe consists of monochromes which leave her looking casually chic and feminine.
3. Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o is swiftly becoming a household name and not just for her talents as an actress, but also for her fashionable style choices.
Not only has Nyong’o been racking up the award gold, she has also been catching the attention of fashion experts across the globe for her elegant yet creative style. It was her bold red cape-style Ralph Lauren gown that she wore to the Golden Globes that really caught our attention. She then went on to show just how incredible she looks in vibrant colours with the beautiful turquoise silk Gucci gown with floral embellished neckline that she wore to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Although, it’s not just all about colour as the 12 Years A Slave star has gone on to show that she will soon be making every best dressed list of the year, with her fresh approach to her clothing choices.
We loved the refined cut of the white finely pleated Prada gown she wore to the Toronto Film Festival and paired with a gold embellished clutch. Then the simple cut of the printed Carolina Herrera dress, with its edgy bold yellow and navy print and we also loved how she chose to pair plain black pants with bold polka dot heels! This just proves how versatile Nyong’o’s style is and how she is able to expertly pair simple and classic garments with something that is more edgy.
In addition to her fantastic wardrobe, Nyong’o should also be praised for how little makeup she chooses to wear, sending the message to women young and old that you do not need to always wear beauty products to feel beautiful and be comfortable in your own skin.
