Announced by Cara Delevingne herself via Instagram was the news of a collaboration with DKNY that turned the fashion world into a frenzy.
Having done multiple campaigns with the label, and her own collection with Mulberry, the fashion world is currently Cara’s oyster.
Having mentioned in past interviews that she had wanted her own range of well- fitted basics and relaxed items, Cara has now been given her first big break in clothing design.
The Instagram picture left people guessing. Would the collaboration be an essence of the designers already established name and brand? Or could Cara D, as she always does – completely shake things up and make the collection completely her own? It was on the 10th June she uploaded to Instagram a vandalised logo of DKNY with her own name ‘Cara D’ and the caption ‘Get Ready!!! It’s Coming…”
Apart from the clothing, what had fans most excited, was Cara choosing to select models through Instagram. Three models will be selected via #Carawantsyou and #CaraD4DKNY tags to have the opportunity to model with Cara in New York for the collection arrival. With more than 45,000 posts on both hashtags, there is only small chance to make a huge impression – time to brush up those #selfie skills.
The collaborative collection will be fitting with Cara’s simple, laid back style. We can expect edgy, relaxed basics from the 15-piece collection as it is “mostly unisex” and includes beanies, T-shirts and a leather motorcycle jacket with removable sleeves, all featuring details with “a special meaning to Cara”.
The collection will land in retail stores and online from 14th October. Prices have been confirmed to start at $70 AU for accessories and reach up to $735 AU.
