1. The Bulldog
The Bulldog is one of the most famous Amsterdam coffee shops, and rightfully so. The Bulldog No. 90, which launched in 1975, was the city’s first coffee shop and set the benchmark for those that followed. Today, The Bulldog boasts five locations and a hotel in Amsterdam, as well as locations in Canada and a merchandising line. While each shop has charm, nothing beats the original, which was once a sex-shop.

2. Green House
Green House, which now boasts four locations, has won over 30 High Times Cannabis Cups and delivers some of the best cannabis in Amsterdam. This impressive feat makes it well worth a visit or two will you’re in the city, so make sure you get down there. Don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity while you’re there either. The various Green House locations are often visited by the rich and famous.

3. Grey Area
Not only is Grey Area a seriously popular coffee shop, but it’s also an award-winning venue. While it may be small and only fit around 16 patrons, this great shop is well worth a visit when you’re in town. The atmosphere is relaxing and happy, making it a perfect place to sit back and enjoy what’s on the menu. With such a vibe, it’s no wonder that Grey Area is a favourite venue for locals, tourists, and even travelling celebrities.

4. Original Dampkring
The Dampkring is a coffee shop that stands out from the pack. As well as serving good drinks and good weed, this unforgettable venue is also beloved for its spacious feel and incredible interiors. The welcoming establishment is also world-famous thanks to the crew from Ocean’s 12, who spent time there while shooting for the film in Amsterdam.

5. Barney’s Coffee Shop
Barney’s is the winner of multiple High Times Cup awards, so you know it’s an excellent place to visit. Although the location is a classic that’s been around for more than 20 years, Barney’s has an original and eclectic aesthetic, which makes it a cool space for chilling out. The staff are also highly welcoming and knowledgeable while the clientele is friendly and relaxed. On top of that, the shop is conveniently located and just a short walk from Amsterdam Central Station.

6. Amnesia
It may be situated off the main tourist routes, but Amnesia is spot well worth visiting. 7. Abraxas

Founded in 1990, Smoke Palace is one of the oldest coffee shops in Amsterdam, and it’s also one of the best.
