Topshop’s Unique S/S15 collection has a sentimental feeling for the subcultures of the British Isles with the faded glamour of the British seaside at its heart. Spirited and youthful with a playful exuberance, it was a sea-sprayed celebration of British youth culture that lives for the beach.
Dance hall glory days and bathing beauties were interpreted into a collection that was inspired in equal parts by sportswear. With monochrome stripes and colour blocked paneling the range had graphic impact in pretty shades of powder blue, pillarbox red, cherry and ice cream pastels. Feminine finishes of accordion pleats, frills and dancewear sparkle added softness to a clean silhouette that was layered in parts with abstract prints. Sporty nylons and bonded cottons were cleverly combined with satin finishes and silver sparkle for beachside glamour.
Cara Delevingne, the face of Topshop, strutted to the quirky rhythm of Tainted Love as she opened a spectacular show that lived up to expectation with a front row line up of international celebrities and fashion royalty including Anna Wintour, Alexa Chung, Hailee Steinfeld and Daisy Lowe. Supermodel appearances in the show by Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson provided the finishing touch one of the most anticipated shows on the London Fashion Week schedule.
