Paris Fashion Week was filled with triumph of juxtaposition, and the H&M Studio – the name for H&M’s seasonal collection of key pieces – was no exception. In fact, last weeks show, which showcased some of the most fashionable garments we have seen on this year’s autumn/winter 2014 catwalk, left us in awe of what the world-renowned high street brand had achieved.
Held in beautiful and historic Grand Palais – which was transformed into an abstract cityscape – H&M Studio took center stage in front of 600 guests. It was a star-studded affair, attracting the most voguish celebrities and daring style gurus including Miranda Kerr, Jessica Alba and Solange Knowles.
To further set the mood one of France’s rising stars HollySiz gave an enthralling live performance throughout the show. Top models such as Andreea Diaconu, Joan Smalls, Izabel Goulart and Saskia hit the runway clad in garments that represented the mellow attitude of the 21st century.
H&M Studio had expertly combined masculine and feminine looks, the result of these were juxtaposed styles served to create an alluring, upbeat look. The collection was all about mixing the two elements. Combining androgynous men’s blazers and stylish biker and aviator jackets, with sexy metallic bias cut slip dresses and draped tops to produce a rare feast for our eyes. The fabrics were not limited either, and H&M Studio introduced the most trendy textures, fabrics and colors for the season into their garments. Fabrics included silk satin, crepe and fine cashmere and faux fur was also included to create texture and statement.
H&M Studio has been created to offer a limited-edition collection of the most modish looks and statement pieces for each season, and the fall collection certainly achieved this. Overall, the collection is very wearable, very stylish and fashion forward.
So what are some of the most stylish women in the world saying about the H&M Studio collection? Australian model Miranda Kerr is set to become the new face of H&M, and she turned heads in her navy blue sleeveless brocade dress at the show. Of course, she was impressed by the collection and stated, “It’s so good to be at H&M Studio in Paris to see this limited edition collection. H&M is such a wonderful brand – it’s affordable, wearable, and very fashion forward.”
Sin City actress Jessica Alba was equally impressed about the collection as she revealed her thoughts, saying, “I love H&M – it’s so exciting to be here, so much fun. The way I dress I mix things together, and I love to shop at H&M, I always find something new when I’m there.”
We love that the high street is starting to get a foothold in runway fashion, and the collection will be available in around 250 stores worldwide, as well as online, from September 4, 2014.
