Do you love River Island and swear by their clothing? Well, River Island clothing just got even more exciting with their SS14 Design Forum collaboration with Katie Eary has spawned an exciting collection of bold prints, sheer flowing fabrics, chic swimwear and essential accessories.
In total the collection comprises 18 pieces ranging from $AUD30 to $AUD220.
Eary, after graduating in 2008 from The Royal College of Art in London, has progressed mainly in the direction of men’s fashion. Her past collaborators include style guru Kanye West, with whom she is still close friends with after she ghost-designed his label, as well as, Savile Row tailor Richard Anderson with whom she worked with on a show for London Collections: Men.
Eary says of her inspiration for the women’s River Island collection:
“My starting point was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Except in my story it wasn’t Johnny Depp, it was my muse (the strong woman) on a crazy hallucinatory journey through the desert. I then went on to design looks for her while she was on this journey. It all became very ‘Tribal Dipped in Gold”.
The collection has been designed for women who want to stand out from the crowd and will feature animal prints in energetic colours, provocative slit skirts, chic and sensual swimwear, bleached denim shorts, dipped hem t-shirts and sleeved blouses.
However, it’s not just the clothing that has us excited, Eary has also created an impressive range of accessories which include fringed suede bags, gold feather hooped earings and even a choker.
River Island has commissioned a short film from Kinga Burza that was screened at London Fashion Week on the evening of the 14th of February (Valentine’s Day). Check out the artistic video, which sets the mood for Eary’s collection and features a bright yellow python.
