Winter goes hand-in-hand with the addition of the stunning effects and textures of hide and fur – be it real or faux. Michael Kors, Donna Karan and Prabal Gurung just to name a few are some such names who used leather trimming on some key pieces for added impact.
Their embellishments weren’t only practical in terms of reinforcement, but aesthetic with eye catching angles and textures, typical of each designer.
This leather trend was carried easily through – as it does most years and every winter – to the streets with the particular features such as the likes of leather sleeves, cuffs, lapels and jackets as a whole.
Leather’s next rung up, fur, is more often than not a touchy subject for most. Depending largely on where it comes from and how it’s been treated, fur is either a favourite or an enemy on the streets and runways around the world.
This year, the likes of Versace, Roberto Cavalli and Oscar de la Renta decided fur was the way for their collection to go and did so in a typically characteristic array of colourful alternatives and options both for the body and the feet.
